Over the last two years, the Innate and We’re Going Deep labels – run by friends Owain K and Placid respectively – have become must-check imprints for those seeking brand-new, timeless-sounding electro, deep house, acid and techno. Now the pair are joining forces on a new collaborative venture that looks to the past for inspiration: InnDeep.Focused on unearthing and showcasing slept-on gems from across the deep spectrum, the reissue-focused label will have an emphasis on UK producers and imprints whose work in the ‘90s and 2000s has arguably been criminally overlooked.
The debut of the new label Lazy Reflex Complex. Lazy Reflex Complex kicks off with a split EP by label head 543ff and Jeroen Search. Expect hi-tech mantras, profound ambient and unsettling soundscapes.
Interplay by YlangYlangCatherine Debard has been active as YlangYlang since 2012, a creative staple in the Montreal music community. She’s worked frequently as a collaborator, but continues developing her unique interstitial solo recordings through a variety of labels and performance experiments. Inspired in part by the writing of Danish poet Inger Christensen, in Debard’s words Interplay explores “how we are shaped and shaping our experience at the same time” and “how free we can be within our own limitations.”Full of deceptive contradictions and some of Debard’s most mature orchestration, she describes it as the final instalment in a trilogy focused on relationships. After albums focused on the external world, this time she turns her attention more intensely on “the self.” It’s a fitting meditation, reflecting on how we adapt and survive as individuals in dark times. Interplay’s warming combination of synths, field recordings, and backing instrumentation weave together toward balance. Here the mixture of stern and soft, dark and light, is seamless.
For our next release, we wanted to pay homage to the dance music of those magical early 90s, particularly that bustling and influential scene that inspired DJs all around the world. We've got Jaisiel, Tech Support, Trepanado, and Clap Kent taking charge, delivering 4 amazing edits that will transport us right back to that golden era of electronic music in Spain "Lar Ruta del Bacalao". Get ready to dance and let the nostalgia wash over you!
