Ghibli
I'm Looking For You
Ghibli’s I’m Looking For You is probably best known to contemporary Italo fiends from regular appearances in I-F DJ sets. With hindsight, its cold, jackin’ drums and twanging DX7 bassline can easily be hailed as a precursor to both Chicago house and New Beat, which were both directly informed by Italo disco, and we can definitely imagine this tune appealing to both serfs of ‘floors. But factor in that almost Klaus Nomi-esque falsetto and a vocal straight out of some drag night at a working men’s club in Stockton-on-Tees and you’ve got a shot of premo Italo NRG that stands out a mile.
